Sold! Show me how No, thank you

My dear Aboriginal brother
I feel ashamed of myself today
as I am in your country
and haven’t asked if I could stay.

If you say that I cannot
then I will have to leave
as I would hate to anger you
or your precious soul just grieve.

Although I have no home
except your own backyard
I wouldn’t want to offend you
or put you on your guard.

I was told if I ask nicely
that you wouldn’t turn me away
and it isn’t about money
or how much I could pay.

You just want to be respected
on your mother land
and if you get that honour
you will always lend a hand.
